Million Dollar Road Trip

- Updates from my new new home -

Here’s a few pictures from our week in Rochester. If you’re looking for a reason why there are only four, well, it’s Rochester. The middle two are from Sticky Lips BBQ. I believe the name says it all. The final one? Simply photographic advice on how to ruin a guitar’s finish in 20 seconds or less.

Some of the cast took a little trip to the house where A Christmas Story was filmed in Cleveland. You’ll shoot your eye out!

Someone in the audience sent this to Twitter

Here’s a link to a official, albeit brief, video from our Toronto performance.

MDQ played at a promotional event in Toronto last week. Here’s a few photos from the set. The event was a season announcement press conference for one of the major producing entities in Toronto. We surprised the audience after the show was announced by showing up and playing a short set.

The act that followed us… just a guy by the name of Hal Prince. He went on and on about his new show or something…

A few from our cast outing to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We had the incredible opportunity to take some photos with the actual piano that Jerry Lee used at Sun Studios on songs like “Matchbox!” Also - here’s a 1967 Gibson that Ryan Adams covered in Star Wars stickers. Awesome.

Some good old tech week fun.

Catching up

For everyone who asked…

Here you’ll find regular updates and anecdotes (at least the generally appropriate ones) from the road as I tour the country with the MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET.

For those of you who were wondering what this whole circus is about…

Million Dollar Quartet is a musical, but not like any you’ve seen before. It tells the (based on a) true story of Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and the man who discovered them all Sam Phillips. On December 4th, 1956 these legends all met in what was to be the greatest jam session in rock and roll history. This is the story of that night. It’s a rock concert and a play in one. Everybody on stage plays their own instruments. As the pre show announcement says, “There ain’t no fakin’, these boys are really playin’.” The show takes the audience through fired up arrangements of over twenty great hits as the jam session goes on and the tension rises between the characters before ending in an all out rock concert finale.

I’m thrilled to be the understudying the role of Carl Perkins. Carl was a true pioneer of rock and roll and helped reinvent electric guitar playing as we know it. It’s pretty incredible to have the opportunity to help tell the story of this oft overlooked icon.

I’ll be back soon with some catch up photos and videos from the past two months.

Until then…
